Vitaly Hurkou Fired from the Sports Ministry. He May Miss the World Championship

World-wide known fighter Vitaly Hurkou may miss the World Championship, which starts on May 19, Sweden.

"I wonder whether bureaucrats in the Federation find money. They've got rid of him because of his music activity. Time passes, the situation is unclear. Should we put a box during concerts to raise money? the sportsman wrote on Vider.

It should be reminded that this March the fighter missed a few concerts of Brutto and returned to the arena and had a confident win in Muay Thai Belarus' Championship. The event was dedicated to qualification for the World Championship. It would seem like ten time amateur Muay Thai world champion Vitaly Hurkou is subject to be the first candidate for trip to Sweden.

Euroradio asked for comments. During the conversation it turns out that the government does not pay salary to the sportsman.

"I used to be in the Sports Ministry. I was paid out the salary and knew about constant financing. But some members of the Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation of Belarus made me leave the national team. I have to find money for the Championship, and my participation is up in the air. Money is still not found. Although I am in good trim. I've easily won the Championship in Belarus, although made everything to feel a squared ring and flush the lungs. I did not fight after the trauma," the fighter said.

- How has it turned out that you are not in the Sports Ministry?

- Officially, it has been done by agreement of the parties. It all started, as soon as I became the member of Brutto band. First, everyone enjoyed it. Everyone knew my position towards Belarusian language and involvement in the cultural life of the country. During tours I had unpaid leaves. Music activity did not prevent me from the victory in the European Championship.

Then I became the champion of Belarus again and was supposed to participate in the World Championship-2015, but got a trauma. It happened when a new Chairman of the Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation got the position. It was Yury Karayeu, Brigadier General of the MVD. Ill-wishers might have taken the advantage of the situation. Different articles from various sites were the topic of one of meetings. There was a picture of me with Pahonia on the mouth guard. It turned out like I became an enemy. I was asked to resign voluntarily. I did not accept it. In the result, Karayeu and me agreed upon my work till the expiration of the contract. The Sports Ministry was surprised with it and asked me to stay. But the decision had been taken.

- Why didn't you resist?

- They said I would not be able to take an unpaid leave, it meant the end to my music career. Despite good results in sports, bureaucrats may always find a fault.

- Do you think that to some extent it was a political persecution?

- I do not know, however, I was blamed for historical reposts on Facebook. The coach of the national team Stsyapanau had an argument with on the issue. He believes that we are Soviet people. I was brought up in an independent Belarus and I do not consider myself a Soviet one. Second, there were people in the Federation, who kept an eye on my whereabouts, monitored my Internet and sought incriminatory evidence. The person I am talking about was trying to bring discredit on me using my photo with Pahonia on my mouth guard. Meanwhile, I believe he has no idea about trainings and Muay Thai.

I do not understand why such people take positions in the Federation. There should be coaches who live with sports.
