Activists In Brussels Demand Not To Abolish Sanctions Against Lukashenka

Europe should not soften the sanctions against the dictator who hasn’t changed a bit.

An informational picket took place near the office of the European Commission in the capital of Belgium.

“Say No to abolishment of sanctions against Aliaksandr Lukashenka!” – this was the demand under which the activists of the Belarusian-European union from Belgium organized an informational picket near the office of the European Commission in Brussels.

Over 10 activists lined up holding posters and informational leaflets, in which they informed the European politicians and the inhabitants of the capital of Belgium about the situation with human rights in Belarus.

Participant and co-organizer of the picket Dzmitry Pimenau has told the following to Radio Racyja:

- We are standing between the buildings of the European Commission and the Council of Europe. We want to turn attention to the fact of groundless softening of sanctions against Aliaksandr Lukashenka. In our bulletin, we tell about the arrest of Dzmitry Piliyenka for the white-red-white flag, and confiscation of property of Nina Bahinskaya. We want to convey all this to the European politicians. We disagree with Europe’s decision to mitigate sanctions against the dictator who hasn’t changed a bit.

The picket lasted from 12 till 13 a.m. According to the participants, many politicians took interest to their bulletin and wished them success. We remind, the European Union lifted the sanctions from the Belarusian leader in mid February this year.
