Trial Of Ex-Journalist Ihar Karnei Begins

On March 19, the Minsk City Court starts considering the case of journalist Ihar Karnei. He is accused under Part 3 of Article 361-1 of the Criminal Code (participation in an extremist formation), writes Viasna.

56-year-old Ihar Karnei was detained after a search in his flat in the morning of July 17, 2023.

At first he was sentenced to the administrative arrest, but he was not released - Ihar was transferred from Akrestsina to the pre-trial detention centre in the framework of the criminal case.

The case will be considered by judge Siarhei Katsar.
