Investigator responsible for “human shield” case committed suicide

Investigator of Minsk regional prosecutor’s office Vasil Papin put a pistol to his head in his office.

Radio Svaboda was told about that by persons involved in “human shield” case. The case was investigated by Vasil Papin.

Minsk regional prosecutor’s office where investigator Papin worked, confirmed this information, and told that it took place two months ago. The reasons for the deed of their colleague are not commented by the prosecutor’s office.

As we have informed, the “human shield” case was started in March after a car accident in the road Slutsk-Minsk. The car shield made by policeman, a Volkswagen driven by drunken Raman Myantsik crushed into a shield of cars made by policemen. In summer traffic policemen Alyaksei Likhtarovich and Henadz Dauhakupets were found guilty in abuse of authority and condemned conditionally. Raman Myantsiuk is to stand trial in Minsk regional court on October 28. He faces up to 5 years of imprisonment.
