Oppositionist hangs out white-red-white flag protesting against search

Vital Hulyak, an activist of the United Civil Party from Vaukavysk, hung out a national flag out of the window protesting against search in his apartment.

The search was carried out on May 18, when all activists of Tell the Truth campaign was searched, Radio Svaboda reports.

Vital says it was his emotional reaction to the search and seizure of his property. The activist filed several complaints to investigators and prosecutors, but hasn’t received an answer so far.

Shortly after the flag had been hung out, militiamen and people in mufti knocked at the activist’s door and demanded he should open the door as neighbours complained about the oppositionist. Vital Hulyak had to remove the flag, a report was drawn up against him.

Vital Hulyak has been suffering from cerebral palsy since his childhood.

Besides a computer, a cell phone, newspapers and books, he was seized a bank card and Polish Card.

Vital Hulyak asked to return his bank card, as he needs it to receive his disability pension. Now he has nothing to live on. He hasn’t received a response to this complaint, too. Vital needed the Polish Card to go abroad for treatment.
