More than 1 mln Belarusians have already left for EU already

There will be no great problems with unemployment in Belarus because of employees outflow abroad, believes a sociologist and former Minister of Labour Alyaksandr Sasnou.

“I do not think that we are going to have an unemployment problem in the near future, even if MAZ and BelAZ would fall apart. People are just to leave the country,” he said on February 15 in Minsk at a round table discussion dedicated to setting up effective working places in Belarus, BelaPAN informs.

As said by the expert, “one of representatives of Europe” had shared a curious piece of information according to which, as EU experts believe, about 1 million 300 thousand Belarusians live and work. “To my mind, this figure is a little overstated. However, there is a prospect of outflow of employees,” Sasnou stressed.

In his opinion, even now unemployment problem is not so critical in the country. “The unemployment rate is certainly higher than 0.6% of the official statistics. According to research of the Independent Institute of Socio-Economic and Political Studies (IISEPS), there is about 4% of unemployed in Belarus, but not out of the economically active population, but out of the entire adult population. Evaluating the number of unemployed compared to the economically active population, t will be a higher figure, abut 6%,” Sasnou noted.

However the expert noted that “all programs of the Ministry of Labour on education of the unemployed could produce minor effect, and only for the simplest positions.” “As for more complex positions, we are going to train human resources for other countries,” the expert is convinced.
