KGB threatens Hrodna opposition activists

Secret service officers continue to persecute activists of the organising committee to found the Belarusian Christian Democracy party.

Opposition activists were summoned for questioning for a picket for small border traffic they had planned to hold on March 2, the BCD website reports.

On March 20, KGB officer Slavutin called Pavel Yakutovich, who was at the picket, for a conversation. He threatens that the activist would not find a job in Hrodna and would be banned from going abroad.

The KGB officer asked about Christian democrats in Hrodna and insulted them.

A court in Hrodna already fined pensioner and BCD activist Halina Kotava.

It should be reminded that BCD members from Hrodna wanted to hold a picket for small border traffic with neighbouring countries on March 2. Pensioner Halina Kotava, who filed an application for the picket, mistakenly understood that the action was permitted in Rumleuski park. The activists were going to begin the picket when men in civilian clothes appeared and began to film them.
