Quest from Savetskaya Belorussia: Buy a car in 19 days

47

The newspaper of Lukashenka's administration praises Belarusian-Chinese Geely cars, but prefers to use Japanese vehicles.

The newspaper Savetskaya Belorussia owned by Lukashenka's Administration posted an invitation to tender for a new Toyota Camry or a similar car on March 25. The invitation was published on the website of the National Centre for Marketing and Price Study.

The newspaper plans to buy the Japanese car at its own costs and expenses by April 12, 2013. The official newspaper was cautious not to point the desired price, but Camry standard models sold by Toyota's official dealer in Belarus, Emir Motors, cost almost 25,000 euros. More expensive models are also on sale.

It's not very strange that the propaganda mouthpiece praises the Belarusian-Chinese “breakthrough”, but gives preference to more predictable cars. The most confusing fact is that the car must be bought by April 12.

It should be reminded that Lukashenka's decree banning to buy expensive company cars comes into effect on April 13. Under the decree, state-owned organisations can buy passenger cars only under 25,000 euros. Savetskaya Belorussia's editor-in-chief Pavel Yakubovich has only 19 days to buy a respectable car.
