Jermakova only hopes for loans

The head of the National Bank hopes to receive a Russian loan of $2 billion and another tranche from Eurasian Economic Community’s anti-crisis fund.

“Russian loan will be used for the modernization of the economy”

The chairwoman of the board of the National Bank of Belarus Nadzeja Jermakova claims that the loan, promised by Russia in the amount of $2 billion, will be used for the modernization of the Belarusian economy.

“The loan will be used for crediting and modernizing the Belarusian economy”, - Jermakova said to journalists in Minsk on Tuesday, Interfax reports.

At the same time she said that the loan will not be used for topping up the international reserves of the country.

Belarus in the expectance of another Eurasian Economic Community anti-crisis fund’s loan

Nadzeja Jermakova claims that Belarus counts on receiving another tranche from the Eurasian Economic Community’s anti-crisis fund.

“So far no decisions have been made, our specialists are working there. We do not agree with the position that is being stated”, - Jermakova told journalists in Minsk on Tuesday when speaking about the session of the Eurasian Economic Community anti-crisis fund’s council.

At the same time she emphasized: “We will not tell beforehand – let’s wait until a decision has been made, but we hope that common sense will prevail”.

The prime rate will be decreasing

The chairwoman of the board of the National Bank of Belarus claims that the prime interest rate will be decreasing in Belarus in the near future.

“The prime rate sees the perspective of decreasing”, - Jermakova stated.

According to her, on balance of two weeks of March and considering the inflation one may say that the prime rate will be decreasing.

Commenting of the IMF’s recommendation, given to the banking sector of Belarus, Jermakova said: “We should listen to everyone, but use our own head in order to proceed from the interests of your country”.
