"There Will Be New Power, If At Least 1% Of Parasites Rise"

They want to collect double tax from the unemployed this year.

Due to recent changes in the decree "On the prevention of social dependency" Belarusians will have to pay a fee for the two preceding tax periods in 2017, blogger d-zholik writes.

All the taxable persons, who did not pay the tax to finance public expenditure for 2015 last year, have to do it no later than 20 February of the current year. In the absence of tax deductions the sum will amount to 360 rubles.

Separately, not later than 15 November, the same persons are obliged to pay the fee for the year 2016 – 420 rubles.

The total amount is equal to $ 400 at the current exchange rate.

This figure is several times higher than an average month salary in most parts of the country and it would become a major blow for the great mass of Belarusian families.

According to the deputy head of the Shchuchyn district tax office, more than 2.5 thousand people have been recognized as social dependents in the district, of which 1800 have already received the notifications on payment of the fee, and only 115 have paid the required amount.

At the same time, according to the Department of labor, employment and social protection of the Shchuchyn district executive committee, as of January 1, 2017, employers reported only about 275 available vacancies, of which 54.9% – working professions.

The main enterprises of the district are experiencing difficulties with orders and sales, labor collectives have been transferred to part-time work or stay at home at their own expense.

Four years ago, about 2000 persons suffering from alcoholism were registered with the narcologist in the district clinic, from which more than 450 were women.

The local department of the enforcement, headed by a retired deputy chief of the Shchuchyn police department, is dealing with almost 9 thousand executive documents.

At that, the authorities openly intimidate the local population with fines and arrests in the case of non-payment of the fee on the financing of public expenditures.

The only way out of this situation is to annul the fee for 2015 or to repeal the decree.

Considering what outrage has been caused by the very fact of the introduction of this tax in the Belarusian society, it is easy to predict the scale of the consequences, caused by the necessity of paying it at double rate. In total, this will directly affect more than 400 thousand people (excluding their families), and if at least 1% of this mass takes up axes and pitchforks, there will be new power in the country.

We remind that on February 17, at 18-00, the March of disgruntled Belarusians to demand the abolition of the decree on "parasites" will begin on Kastrychnitskaya Square in Minsk.
