Another Citizen Of Ukraine Detained In Belarus

Ukrainian plant director Skiba has arrived on a business trip to MTZ.

Another Ukrainian citizen got lost in Belarus. Belarusian special services detained the head of the Public Joint Stock Company Plant Weighting (Konstantinovka, Donetsk region). The director of the commercial enterprise came on a business trip to the Minsk Tractor Plant.

This is stated in the letter addressed to Ukrainian Ambassador to Belarus Igor Kizim on November 16, which has been published by LB.ua, censor.net reports.

The statement, signed by acting chairman of the plant administration O. Kozmenko, says that on November 15, PAO Plant Weighting director Alexander Skiba (May 7, 1978 birth year) arrived in Minsk on a business trip for negotiations with the publicly held company Minsk Tractor Plant, with which the Ukrainian company has an agreement on the supply of products, which are used in the foundry of the Belarusian plant.

On November 15, Skiba flew from Kiev to Minsk at 14.20 and arrived there at 16.15 local time. He was going to return back on the same day, he informed about that on the phone at 19.20 Kiev time.

However, the next time, A. Skiba was in touch in the morning – he called his wife from an unfamiliar Belarusian number and said that he had been detained by Belarusian KGB officers.

ALEXANDER SKIBA’S LETTER TO AMBASSADOR OF UKRAINE IN MINSK ON HIS DETENTION BY SPECIAL SERVICES OF BELARUS

"I tried to find out about our employee’s fate via the phone number, which I found on the Internet. I phoned the Belarusian KGB duty officer to Minsk to make enquiries about our employee’s detention. The person, who introduced himself as a deputy duty officer, confirmed the fact of holding our employee in detention in their department," – the letter says.

At the same time, the Belarusian KGB representative did not disclose the circumstances and reasons of the detention, promising to call back if the need arises.

It will be recalled, on October 25, Ukrainian Radio correspondent, citizen of Ukraine Pavel Sharoiko was detained in Minsk. He was brought standard charges against foreign correspondents of "espionage". On August 4, the 19-year-old son of an officer of the State Border Service of Ukraine disappeared in Belarus. Later it became known that he was abducted by Russian special services and sent over to the investigative isolator of Krasnodar (Russia).
