"Lukashenka Admits That Russia Will Replace Him"

The rulers of Russia and Belarus have not yet managed to coordinate their work schedules in order to determine the date of the supreme state council of the "union state".

The Press Secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov informed about this.

What prevents the "allies" to take a step towards each other?

– The main sticking points are oil and gas, – the international analyst Andrei Fiodarau said in an interview with Zavtra Tvoei Strany. – This is the most sensitive spot of our economy. The issue of supply of Belarusian food products to Russia also hasn't been resolved.

It's quite a lot in total.

– It's not the first argument of the allies. Previously, such conflicts ended in "brotherly kisses". Are there any signs of the coming reconciliation?

– Probably, the Belarusian side will soften its position. It is possible that Russia, too, will do the same way. But the conflict has been going on for a long time. This fact indicates: now, there's something more serious under way than previously.

Now the Belarusian leadership is, apparently, very much afraid of inadequate behavior of the Eastern ally. Minsk would like to distance itself from Moscow, but it hasn't been successful doing this so far.

– Can Lukashenka slow down the large-scale military exercises that are going to be held on our territory this year and wherein Russian troops plan to participate?

– Formally, he can. However, they still keep saying that everything will be as it was planned. Although I do not completely exclude the possibility of cancellation of the exercises.

Especially that there are another six months before they start. A lot can happen during this time.

– Do you think that Lukashenka fears that the Russian government is going to replace him?

– I think he admits such an option and is trying to take steps to prevent it.
