The public transport controllers support the abolition of the uniform.

"From March 1, the controllers in trams will work without the uniform jackets," – such messages have appeared on many news sites. However, Minsktrans informed kp.by, that the issue has not been resolved yet and is being discussed.

The controllers believe that the uniform jackets should be called off.

– It's about blinking time, too! It is a pity to stay without the comfortable large pockets, though. The jackets were made less visible, bright yellow stripes were removed, but we still can be seen from afar. And while the tram is pulling up to a stop, those who have not punched tickets, punch them, and stowaways just go out, – a 3rd and 6th tram route controller says. – Many people deliberately stand near a validator or a composter with a travel card or a ticket and watch out through the window, whether there are controllers at the bus stop. If there are some – they punch a ticket, if no – they go free. There are a lot of them! But if it were impossible to distinguish a controller from an ordinary passenger, people would be afraid and pay the fare.

– In other countries, it has long been practiced, and they have few "free-riders". I would also increase the fines for ticketless travelling! In Europe, they are huge, here, a lot of people allow themselves to travel free of charge due to impunity, – another controller says.

As is seen from the discussion in social networks, many citizens support the abolition of the jackets. Particularly those, who usually buy tickets.

– Controllers are very visible at the bus stop, free-riders see them and jump out. The tickets are checked at those who remained, and the work of the controller has zero efficiency, – Maryna from Minsk says.

– I always buy a travel card, why can’t they? – Mikhail is outraged. – We must have respect for the city and for others! Or, go on foot!

However, some residents of the capital express the opposite opinion.

– In Stockholm, a fine is about 120 euros – so what? There are plenty of stowaways. Free-riders are eternal and omnipresent, there is nothing to stop them, – Siarhei wrote.

Some are concerned that fraudsters may appear as the result of the uniform abolition.

– Anyone might check the travel cards and give fines, – social networks users excitedly discuss the issue.

Minsktrans says that a controller can be easily distinguished from a fraudster by the badge, enshrined on clothes, certification and DVR.
