The Yury Zakharanka annual memorial award "With Visor Raised" is presented for manifestation of courage, faith and self-sacrifice.

On March 1, social movement "Defenders of the Fatherland" named after Yury Zakharanka announced the winner of the annual award "Knight of the Year: With Visor Raised", Belaruskaya Prauda reports.

Chairman of the Belarusian Trade Union of Radio Electronic Industry Workers (REP) Henadz Fiadynich became the winner.

The Yury Zakharanka annual prize is awarded for showing courage, will and self-sacrifice in the struggle for the restoration of freedom and democracy in Belarus.

Over the years, the "Knight of the Year: With Visor Raised" laureates were:

deputy of the "house of representatives", Armed Forces General Valery Fralou (2004);

human rights activist, member of the Belarusian Helsinki Committee Hary Pahaniayla (2005);

former presidential candidate, political prisoner Aliaksandr Kazulin (2006);

entrepreneur, a veteran of the war in Afghanistan, political prisoner Mikalai Autukhovich (2007);

well-known journalist, writer and author of over twenty books about modern life Aliaksandr Tamkovich (2008)

social activist, veteran of the Afghan war Aliaksandr Kamarouski (2009);

former presidential candidate and poet Uladzimir Niakliayeu (2010);

former presidential candidate, political prisoner Mikalai Statkevich (2011);

human rights activist, head of the Belarusian Documentation Centre Raisa Mikhailouskaya (2012)

chairman of the Board of the national revival of Belarus, veteran of the Afghan war Uladzimir Baradach (2013);

journalist of the newspaper Novy Chas, well-known political blogger Dzmitry Halko (2014);

In 2015, the "Knight of the Year" prize was awarded to former judge of the Constitutional Court Mikhail Pastukhou.
