Mikalai Statkevich: The KGB Should Implement Paranoid Fantasies of Lukashenka
Mikalai Statkevich

The dictator is torn between his sick thoughts and lack of money.

One of the leaders of the Belarusian National Congress Mikalai Statkevich stated to Radio Svaboda after his release from the KGB remand prison.

"I am a suspect now. Today I am suddenly released after initiation of investigative actions. The KGB should implement paranoid fantasies of Lukashenka and do it after the fact," the politician said.

Captain P.P. Vasilevsky had a talk with a suspect Statkevich in the KGB remand prison. He showed him the order on initiation of a criminal case on "organization of mass disorders." The protocol is signed by KGB employee K.L. Pazhok. He has allegedly found out that since 2011 Statkevich and a group of unidentified persons have been preparing riots. Statkevich says he burst with laughter: he was imprisoned until 2015 year.

The politician drew attention to the fact that the protocol had been adopted by Brigadier General P.I. Serhienka on March 21. It happened after Lukashenka's statements about "exposure of militia camps."

"I have never heard such rubbish!" Statkevich commented on such ridiculous charges.

The politician refused to testify. He was placed in cell No. 16 of the KGB remand prison unless his release this morning.

According to Statkevich, his release is connected with the hope of the Belarusian authorities to build a dialogue with the West and to get a financial assistance: "They have no money to keep me behind bars".

He drew attention to the fact that the "thaw" in relations with the West and lifting of sanctions had occurred after his and other political prisoners' release. Now attempts to discredit will follow: "If they imprison me, the ground for the dialogue disappears."
