Freedom Day Detainees Stand Trials In Belarus

Human rights defenders report almost a hundred trials against the protesters.

Today, the courts of Minsk and other cities of Belarus are considering the administrative cases of detained Freedom Day participants on March 25 and protest actions on March 26, nn.by reports.

Babruisk

Maxim Buinitski, who was detained repeatedly after he has served 15 days of arrest. Judge Gormash fined him for 2 base fees.

The judge of the Central District Court of Homel Aliaksandr Piskunou punished 19-year-old Victar Chumachenka with a 5-days detention.

Maskouski district court - political analyst, opposition activist Ales Lahviniec was found guilty of petty hooliganism – he allegedly used faul language. The sentence is 10 days of detention.

Lahviniec was detained in the backyard of his house and brutally beaten. He was sent to hospital.

The Savetski district court sentenced bard Zmitser Zakharevich to 20 days of detention.

BCD activist Dzianis Sadouski was released in the court hall. He was fined for 80 base fees.

Coordinator of the “European Belarus” civil campaign Maxim Viniarski got

8 days of detention. He stood trial in the Partyzanski district court.

The police threatened “to rot in jail” a pensioner who refused to tell his name so the court would not be able to convict him. Valer was detained at the action on March 25. He can’t stand trial due to the absense of documents and because he does not tell his surname.

Judge of the Leninski district court A.Karneichyk fined Aliaksandr Khaukin for 25 base fees.

Pavel, along with his pregnant wife, was detained yesterday, on March 26 in the Kastrychnitskaya Square in Minsk. His wife was soon released, and Pavel was taken to the Center for Isolating Offenders in Akrestsin Street, where he spent the night.

Human rights activist Yury Belsky was found guilty of hooliganism - he allegedly used faul language in the morning of March 25, when he was summoned for a conversation to the Investigative Committee.

Viktar Stukov, who was detained after a search at the Polatsk office of the Free Trade Union of Belarus, wasfined for 20 base fees.

Brest

“European Belarus” activist Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk was fined for 15 base fees by the judge of the Maskouski district court of Brest. On Saturday, the activist was detained and charged with hooliganism. Until today, the woman was in the temporary detention facility. Despite her appeals and complaints that she is the mother of two little children, she was not allowed to go home.
