Actions dedicated to the anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident took place in Homel and Mahilyou.

Two actions took place in Mahilyou on April 26. An official meeting was held at the memorial sign to the victims of the tragedy in Lubuzh, while opposition activists gathered at the Cross of Memory, which they erected 20 years ago, Belsat reports.

Mahilyou activists honored the memory of the victims of Chernobyl with a minute of silence and laid flowers. People in civilian clothes watched and videotaped the action.

About forty people took part in the action of memory in Homel - representatives of political parties and public associations, activists. Homel dwellers laid flowers to the sign commemorating the rescuers who died during the liquidation of the accident in Chernobyl.

"There are two troubles in Belarus," – the Homel activist and politician Uladzimir Katsora summed up the event. "These are Chernobyl and the current government," – Radio Svaboda reports.
