Ryhor Hryk: Authorities Violated All My Rights
Ryhor Hryk

The level of lawlessness of Baranavichy policemen impresses.

On April 26, civil activist Ryhor Hryk was once again illegally detained near the entrance to his house. He was kept in the police department for no legal reasons for 7 hours without charges and records, just as a commentator on the news about the leaflets glued over the town of Baranavichy, which said “Freedom for Prisoners. Patriot is No Criminal!” and indicated the scope of budget funds allocated on the force structures in comparison with health care and education, Radio Racyja reports.

- I said I didn’t remember anything and I would not give any evidence or explanations, and I would not sign anything either, under Article 27 of the Constitution. They still kept me in the police department from 12 to 7, fulfilling the order of the superiors in order to prevent me from going to the action “Chernobyl way” in Minsk. I think they violated all my rights, there was no subpoena, the police didn’t introduce themselves.

Most likely, Ryhor Hryk will not appeal the actions of the police as he believes it’s pointless. He has had enough of getting senseless scornful formal replies to his complaints from the higher instances.
