More and more information gets into the media from the relatives of the detainees in the “patriots case”.

Sviatlana, the fiancee of a defendant in the “White Legion case” Miraslau Lazouski, told Radio Liberty about the facts she knew: her fiance had been severely beaten during the arrest, and the lawyer had been denied access to him during the first few days of the investigation, although there had been interrogations, even at night.

“I know nothing about tortures now, as they don’t provide such information. No one writes about such things in the letters as the letters wouldn’t reach addressees then. So, I don’t know whether to believe all these opinions about the possible tortures. I was told by the lawyer that he allegedly looked fine, didn’t complain about anything, and felt well.

However, frankly speaking, I have no idea what is happening there in reality. I hope there are no such things. During the arrest, yes, I saw his face having been beaten till it bleeded. They came to our place for a search, and didn’t take him at first, lied to me saying he was on his way, and kept him downstairs in actual fact. I demanded they should bring him and they did in the end. There was a lot of blood on Miraslau’s face, old and fresh blood. When they seated him with his back to the wall, the blood started dripping of his nose. They offered I could wipe his face with a towel. As far as I understand, fresh blood meant they were beating him downstairs. There was also a big red blood spot from a blow on the back of his neck. However, according to the lawyer, there’s nothing like that now, everything is okay. Still, let us not forget that lawyers sign a non-disclosure obligation,” - Sviatlana says.

Did Miraslau Lazouski have an opportunity to contact his lawyer right after detention?

Sviatlana says:

“No, they did not let the lawyer visit him at first, although there were interrogations. Also, Miraslau said they hadn’t let him sleep in the first week, as they came for interrogations. He passed this information through the lawyer. They kept coming with those interrogations for the whole week. They kept this from me at first as they didn’t want to make me worried. I found out about this recently,” – Miraslau Lazouski’s fiancee Sviatlana says.
