Minsker Brutally Detained By Police In Metro Released

A criminal case was started against the 19-year-old Minsker, but he was released from the remand prison under own recognizance.

The 19-year-old Minsk resident, who had been brutally detained on May 27 in the Kastrychnitskaya metro station in the capital, was released, despite the fact that a criminal case was started against him under Article 364 “Violence or threat to use thereof against an officer of the Interior”.

Official representative of the Investigatory Committee Siarhei Kabakovich informed to Euroradio that the “measures of procedural compulsion” were applied to the detainee.

"Taking into account the confession of his guilt and repentance in the deed, a measure of procedural compulsion was applied to him: it means he should appear on the first call, as soon as the investigators need him," - Kabakovich said.

According to the representative of the Investigatory Committee, the detainee was released directly from the emergency hospital, where he underwent a toxicological examination, and where the guy was removed from the state of alcohol poisoning. Kabakovich does not specify the exact quantity of per mille of alcohol that the doctors found in the blood of a 19-year-old guy.

The article provides for up to six years in prison. The Investigatory Committee draws attention to the fact that the accused does not work anywhere and does not study, and at the time of the incident he served 240 hours of public works, according to the sentence of February 2017.

The incident occurred on May 27 at 1:16 in Minsk metro. According to the city administration of internal affairs, the policeman stopped the young man and asked him to leave the metro, since drunk people were not allowed to travel by metro.They went upstairs into the lobby, but the guy refused to leave the station.

It is reported that the young man began to resist when they tried to take him to the police room for proceedings. At the same time he injured the policeman - a closed fracture of the bones of the nose. The offender was detained with the participation of the security forces of the Minsk underground and the nearest police detachment. The video of detention leaked into the social networks and caused many questions regarding the professionalism of the "people in uniform".
