Bogdan Zdrojewski: European Parliament Intends To Support Belarusian People Further On
BOGDAN ZDROEWSKI

On July 19, the delegation of the European Parliament finished its visit to Belarus.

"To maintain direct channels of communication with the Belarusian authorities, including the cases where our positions differ, is critical for the development of further relations between the EU and Belarus. We noted recent positive changes in some sectors of cooperation, and also discussed important challenges that remain. The European Parliament intends to continue its interaction with Belarus and support the Belarusian people," - head of the delegation, MEP Bogdan Zdrojewski, told Radio Liberty.

As reported by the delegation of the European Parliament on relations with Belarus, the visit was a continuation of the policy of critical cooperation with Belarus, which is pursued by the European Union. This policy encourages further cooperation and progress in the field of human rights, democracy and openness of society through dialogue.

"At all meetings, the deputies recalled the resolution of the European Parliament of April 6, 2017, which condemned the brutal measures against participants of peaceful protests in February and March," - the delegation said.

This was the second official visit of the European Parliament under the leadership of Bogdan Zdrojewski (Poland, European People's Party), the chairman of the delegation on relations with Belarus.
