The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus informs about the meeting of Russian President's assistant Vladislav Surkov and US Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker in Minsk at the, Interfax reports.

"Russian President's assistant Vladislav Surkov and US Spokeswoman for Ukraine Kurt Volker are meeting behind closed doors Minsk," – the Belarusian Foreign Ministry informs on Twitter.

Earlier, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry confirmed the meeting of US Special Representative for Ukraine K. Volker and Russian Presidential Aide V. Surkov in Minsk on Monday. "The meeting will be held behind closed doors in Minsk today," – Dzmitry Mironchik, a spokesman for the Foreign Ministry, told Interfax-West.

As the US State Department reported on August 18, US Special Representative for the Ukrainian negotiations K. Volker would leave for Minsk on August 21. He was going to meet with a representative of the Russian government to discuss Russian-Ukrainian relations.
