Uladzimir Niakliaeu Released
ULADZIMIR NIAKLIAEU

Friends and comrades-in-arms greeted one of the BNC leaders.

One of the Belarusian National Congress leaders, the poet and politician Uladzimir Niakliaeu was released at 9.38 am today from the detention centre in Akrestsina Street.

His comrade-in-arms and friend, the BNC leader Mikalai Statkevich urged people to greet the politician.

"Uladzimir Niakliaeu is to be released from the administrative jail in Akrestsina Street at 9-30am on Friday, September 22. I call on all patriots, who has an opportunity and who doesn't face himself or herself the threat of detention, to meet and support Uladzimir Prakofievich," – Mikalai Statkevich wrote.

At 9 am Uladzimir Niakliaeu's friends and comrade-in-arms gathered near the detention center in Akrestsina Street – the public activist and director Volha Nikalaichyk, the political scientist Ales Lohvinets, the youth activist Pavel Vinahradau and others.

Radio Svaboda life webcasting the event.

09.55 Uladzimir Niakliaeu addressed Belarusians: "Life consists of very simple things: food, home, family. But for me personally this has never been enough, I felt that I was not just a creature that eats and sleeps. I can not stand being bullied and humiliated. We do not live in a normal country. Just look there: prison trucks are passing by all the time we are standing here, someone is arrested and put into prison. After all, they have a plan. It is necessary to change something in the country. I call you: be Belarusians, be citizens!"

After this, the politician went home together with friends and relatives.

09.53 From the words of Uladzimir Niakliaeu it follows that he intended to file a complaint against the actions of the administration of the prison because of ill-treatment and bullying.

09.45 In prison, the guards forbade the poet to write. "They even had educational talks with me. And one of the police officers argued that it was my fault that the police officers "were forced to detain him," – the 71-year-old politician said.

09.42 "I am sure that they [the authorities], each time arresting me after 2010, hope that sooner or later I will leave the jail heels foremost. This time they seized me at a bus stop on my way to the hospital. I had an appointment with a doctor for 9:50. I wondered how they knew that I was leaving the house at 9." The politician believes that he is being illegally bugged, because he discussed his plans on the phone with Mikalai Statkevich a day before the detention, Belsat reports.

At 9.38, Uladzimir Niakliaeu left the gate of the detention center to meet his friends and comrades-in-arms.

We remind that on September 15 Uladzimir Niakliaeu was arrested for 7 days for participating in the Warning Action.
