Volha Nikalaichyk: I Will Continue Working From Ukraine
VOLHA NIKALAICHYK

The civil activist and film director revealed her plans for the future.

Volha Nikalaichyk told about this in an interview for Radio Racyja.

Volha Nikalaichyk was regularly fined for the participation in numerous street actions. She couldn’t afford paying fines. At the moment, she said, she is obliged to pay about $ 7500 K to the state.

At the same time, the officers of court seized the activist's house:

— I was going to sell the house anyway, because it requires serious repairs, and this winter, my mother and I would not have survived. And of course, there is no money for the repair. Therefore, housing in the center of the capital will be sold and we will buy something cheaper outside the city along the line where electric trains run. I think that there will remain money to pay fines as well. And I decided to leave to work in Ukraine.

— Are you going to emigrate?

— Certainly, this is not emigration. On the contrary, I am going to come to Minsk regularly, when some significant political events take place here.

It’s just, I can work more freely in Kyiv, and live a more interesting life. I can do script-writing peacefully, and be sure that no one will knock at my door today or tomorrow, or arrest me, or take my computer. The officers of court, by the way, know that I am going to leave, but they do not plan to set any obstacles for me because of my debts. If I sell the house, I will have to give the police officers money for fines, since without this the arrest for sale will not be lifted. Therefore, I will sell the house and pay it. I knew what I was up to.
