Belneftekhim: Petrol Prices Are To Be Raised By 23%

A psychologically significant leap is brewing.

Belneftekhim believes that it is necessary, at least, to bring the Belarusian petrol prices to parity with the prices of the Russian market. Deputy chairman of the concern Andrei Rybakou told sb.by about that.

– At the end of last year, or rather, in August-December, the cost of oil increased by 25.8 percent. In 2018, excise rates for motor fuel increase by 10 percent. In these conditions, to compensate for the losses of refineries, the prices for oil products are to be increased, – Rybakou says.

He stressed that a psychologically significant leap is brewing. Only in order to compensate for the increase in the cost of oil, it is necessary to raise the prices at petrol stations by 23 percent. The concern considers it necessary, at least, to bring the Belarusian prices to parity with the prices of the Russian market, which are now 7-11 percent higher. All possible internal measures to reduce the costs of our refineries have already been undertaken.

We remind that the last time the price of fuel changed on October 10, 2017. Then the cost of fuel increased by 2 kopecks.

At that time, Belneftekhim explained the price increase by the need to level retail prices for petroleum products in Belarus with the cost of automotive fuel in neighboring countries, primarily in neighboring regions of Russia.
