Lukashenka And “True Human Rights”
ULADZIMIR NIAKLIAYEU

What are “true human rights”?

Speaking in Zhytkavichy on the occasion of opening the bridge over Prypiats, Lukashenka, as usual, rose to the epoch-making events. And historical generalizations. Having said that it was symbolic that the bridge had been built by the day of the October Revolution, he immediately added that “the first cause of the October Revolution is war. And the main lesson we should learn from our history of 1917 – it is peace.” And further, describing a meeting with the Americans, who do not quite understand what human rights are, he said: “This is why the October Revolution is a celebration of peace and true human rights.”

A few days ago, he said thoughtfully that it would be good to fill November 7 with some other sense. So he filled. Quickly and with a deep level of understanding.

Well, let it be the day of peace. Although there is “Peace! Work! May!” and there’s an international holiday, “Day of Peace.” But what are the “true human rights”? How do they differ from the rights which are not “true”, which were adopted 70 years ago by the General Assembly of the United Nations “as a task, which all nations and all states should strive to fulfill,” – who knows it, but Lukashenka?
