Journalist Katsiaryna Andreyeva: They Can't Stop Or Intimidate Us
KATSIARYNA ANDREYEVA

The independent journalist has been summoned to the police again.

Belsat journalist Katsiaryna Andreyeva received a subpoena to the police department due to administrative proceedings initiated against her over Part 2 of Article 22.9 of the Administrative Offense Code (violation of the legislation on the media) for "working without accreditation", belsat.eu reports.

Katsiaryna Andreyeva was summoned to the Savetski district police department for April 18. The reason for the administrative persecution of the journalist remains unknown. Under Part 2 of Article 22.9 Katsiaryna Andreyeva is facing a fine for the sum of up to 50 base fees (Bn 1 225).

"I haven't decided yet whether I will go there. My colleagues go to courts on a regular basis, so I am used to it as well. I don't see anything scary about it, and I am fully ready for the consequences in the form of a fine. The law-enforcers hope in vain that they can stop or intimidate Belsat or me personally with such persecution. Nothing's going to change, let them send their papers further on," - Katsiaryna Andreyeva commented upon the situation.

Katsiaryna Andreyeva was detained on the Freedom Day on March 25 on the eve of the protest action in the Yakub Kolas Square. She spent about three hours in the Savetski district police department.
