A dialogue with Lukashenka may cause negative consequences.
The policy of the dialogue with the Belarusian authorities has brought no results so far: neither for the society, nor for the democratization or reforms. So far, the dialogue has only provided certain conveniences for the ruling regime and Lukashenka personally. One of the leaders of the Belarusian National Congress Uladzimir Niakliaeu has expressed such opinion in an interview with Radio Racyja. The dialogue can lead only to negative consequences.
- Where can it lead to? It can lead to handing out the independence of Belarus by the ruling regime. As the regime and Lukashenka personally has been fully dependent on Russia since long ago. This is a dependent, unfree person, regardless of what he keeps saying about freedom and independence. This is dangerous not only for Belarus, there’s a threat to Poland as well, as the borders of the aggressive Russian Federation could move to the places where Bug flows.
Uladzimir Niakliaeu has noted that Poland recalled the idea of the Intermarium, which envisages close cooperation with the Eastern neighbors, including Belarus. That is why it remains in Poland’s interests that Belarus should be a democratic state. However, the politician has added, changes inside the country depend only and exclusively on Belarusians themselves.
