Leanid Zaika: Lukashenka Rides A Vicious Circles
Caricature: EKRAN/anekdotovmir.ru

Belarusians have long been living in their own reality, without the government.

Shuffles in the government after the scandalous meeting in Orsha play no role in the country's life. Major part of Belarusians is ignoring this power and does not need its "services" at all.

Leader of the Strategy analytical centre, economist Leanid Zaika told in the interview with Charter97.org.

- The power has made a great theoretical mistake. Those Orsha enterprises inspected by Lukashenka could have been privatized by the new generation of businessmen which ought to increase in number, based on small commodity production, like it happened in China. They would have been gladly responsible for enterprises in Orsha, Barysau, Baranavichy and so on.

It would have promoted the new generation of intellectual engineers and managers. But it was not done.

Instead, weird people arrive. I know one grandson of the tsar police office from Sukhumi. He has wun over Lukashenka. I "liked" the wedding of his son of a billion dollars: he invited Sting and others.

Lukashenka cries out that there are bad directors at enterprises. However, he welcomes the same cunning dogs. Lukashenka is not a good judge of character. One more D grade for lack of knowledge of psychology.

Lukashenka rides a vicious circle. This is the only thing he can do.

He can sort potatoes, like in an anecdote. What is the sense of it?

He does things he got used to in the collective farm: "Vasya, borrow some fertilizers from another brigade. And you borrow tractors. Send drunken Peter to the warehouse."

Lukashenka dismissed Minister of Industry Vouk. Who did appoint him? May Lukashenka meet recommendations on liquidation of the Ministry of Industry appointing such ministers?

Here is my piece of advice: to appoint ministers wearing "Minister of Ministry A, position valid from January 1 to February 1, 2018." It will be easier to dismiss them then. And to introduce a temporary census to avoid "sensations".

By and large, a half of ministers of Belarus may be jailed, and the country will not notice it. I remember the picture of the Icelandic Cabinet: there are seven people. Why does Belarus need more?

The Belarusian government works like the Party Committee in the Soviet times: pursues, collects, throw dust in eyes. There are few functions of the government left.

Lukashenka misses novelty in the work with the government. He assembles them, cries at them... It would better for him to offer every minister to write a thesis why his ministry should be closed. As it used to happen to Comsomol members offered to write characteristics of their own.

The ability of people to survive in this mess and ignore him is saving. Lukashenka yells: "Why is grass rolled up in the asphalt?" It's great that it's grass... It could have been the director of a plant or the minister.

Belarusians have long been living in their own reality, without the government. They leave for work as fitters and concreters in Poland. We are about to lose these professions here. This power with Lukashenka in charge exists only for 933 thousand pensioners over 70 years old. Others do not care about all this mess.
