The SCC head Anfimau on privatization.

The government appointed the other day has not yet submitted its new program, but the head of the State Control Committee Leanid Anfimau made a conceptual article in the newspaper Sovetskaya Belorussia, tut.by reports.

The key topics of the article were criticism of privatization and reforms and the call to adhere to "our own path of development."

"Someone is furious that something that should have died long ago, still lives for some reason. And this someone does not want to admit that only thanks to the state wisdom shown in the early 1990s – which was dictated more by intuition, as they say, from the earth rather than by screaming challenges – we could maintain state influence on property," – Anfimau writes.

"Today I shudder when think what would happen to the country, if all property was distributed in private ownership or if all inefficiently operating enterprises were closed. The choir of marketersб calling plants "toxic assets," urged us to do so then and calls for this now with a vengeance," – he continues.

Anfimau also remembers the state-planned economy, "which only the lazy did not attempt to criticize, to kick like a defeated giant." "But this horde of disordered voices does not come from a firm belief that everything was really bad. The political conjuncture and engagement of the conductors of this choir rule. But the idea of a state-planned economy was not just ahead of its time! It allowed to restore the USSR economy destroyed by the First World War and the civil war only at the expense of internal resources in a short time. All enterprises worked in close cooperation. Everyone knew what to produce and in what quantity. And most importantly, there were no problems with the sale of products," – the author believes.
