Zinaida Mikhniuk: Fiadynich Greeted With Standing Ovation In Brest

A meeting of the trade union regional branch with the REP trade union leader has been held in Brest.

This was one of the scheduled visits of the REP independent trade union leader, Hennadz Fiadynich, which had been planned earlier at the meeting of the Presidium, praca-by.info writes.

The meeting talked about the "Trade Union case" and the work of the organization after the sentencing; about the situation in the labor market of Belarus and in the workers' collectives of REP trade union members.

Separately, those gathered highlighted the fact that the parliament wants to amend the Labor Code, giving the permanent character to Decree No. 29 on the introduction of a contract hiring system.

The trade unionists from Biaroza, Baranavichy and other towns came to the meeting. Traditionally, at the meetings of the most active members of the trade union, there are those, who were among the originators of the trade union; those, who work – they talk about what is happening in their collectives; and those, who have recently joined the union, are invited to see how the REP trade union works.

The REP trade union leader in Brest region, Zinaida Mikhniuk, called the last meeting one of the best in recent years:

– So many people came that there were not enough stools in the office, and people were standing even in the corridor.

Zinaida Mihniuk shared information about how the meeting had been held:

– The REP trade union lives and works! The chairman was greeted with standing ovation. How else could we express our respect to one of the most prominent leaders of the independent trade union movement in Belarus? Hennadz Fiadynich spoke about the "Trade Union case"; people reported about the interrogations they had had to go to. Everyone was proud of the fact that he had made his contribution to the better end of the "Trade Union case." It's not for nothing that those 814 interrogation protocols were brought in a separate case – it was only a plus for the REP trade union, as there were only good references. The investigation could not gain advantage of them in the case.
