The reason for the appeal was the information on the pollution of the Biarezina River with hazardous substances.

Ukraine suspected Belarus of having polluted the Biarezina River, the right-hand tributary of the Dnieper River, with hazardous substances, reports the press-center of the Ukrainian Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.

“The reason for the appeal was the widespread information in the media about the pollution of the Biarezina River, which flows on the territory of Belarus and is the right tributary of the Dnieper River, with hazardous substances. One fifth of the water from this river flows into the Dnieper,” they said.

On January 19, Svetlahorsk residents noticed that an incomprehensible liquid and foam were flowing from the pipe of the pulp and paper mill into the Biaezina River. On this occasion, local resident Alena Maslyukova appealed to the district emergency department, as well as the police.
