EU Delegation Announces Reasons For Cancellation Of Mogherini's Visit to Minsk

Today, a number of European politicians have cancelled their visits to Belarus.

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini has cancelled her visit to Minsk "due to a number of changes in the agenda," tut.by reports.

- We regret to inform you that the visit of Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, as well as the high-level meeting within the framework of the "Eastern Partnership," previously scheduled for October 4-5, 2019 in Minsk, have been postponed due to a number of changes in the agenda of various participants and the results of negotiations with Belarus as the host country," - the statement of the EU Delegation on Facebook reads.

We remind that it was expected that the events on the subject of the Eastern Partnership would be attended by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, as well as foreign ministers of neighboring countries and participants of the Eastern Partnership.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius also cancelled his visit to Belarus due to the cancellation of Mogherini's visit.

Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz will not come to Minsk either.

As explained to reporters at the Polish embassy, the Foreign Minister had to postpone his visit due to his participation in the funeral events related to the death of the father of Kornel Morawiecki, the current Prime Minister of Poland, the leader of Fighting Solidarity, an anti-communist underground organization during the time of the PPR.
