Minsk Chief Oncologist Became New Minister Of Health

Former Minister Valeryj Malashka worked in the position for a little more than two years.

The personnel reshuffles continue in Belarus. Thus, on June 11, Valeryj Malashka left the post of Minister of Health. On the same day, Aliaksandr Lukashenka appointed a new department head. Uladzimir Karanik, who has held the post of chief physician of Minsk City Clinical Oncological Dispensary since 2011, became the head of the department, BelTA informs.

It is known that Uladzimir Karanik was born in Hrodna in 1973. He graduated from Hrodna State Medical Institute. From 1996 to 2011, he worked in various positions at the Republican Scientific and Practical Center of Oncology and Medical Radiology named after N.N. Aleksandrov, was a trainee doctor, junior researcher, researcher at the Department of Thoracic Oncopathology, thoracic surgeon (head) of the Russian National Research and Practical Center for Oncology and Medical Radiology.

We remind that the former Healthcare Minister Valeryj Malashka was appointed to the post in January 2017. At the time of his being in this position, there occurred high-profile detentions of well-known doctors.
