Valer Bychkouski: Mostly Young People Under 35 Sign
VALER BYCHKOUSKI

The situation in the country has changed a lot.

Valer Bychkouski, who takes part in the "parliamentary campaign" in Yasenina electoral district № 100 in Minsk, told the press service of the civil campaign European Belarus about the collection of signatures:

- The most striking situation during the collection of signatures is the incident at the shopping center "Skala" and its consequences. A picket of solidarity, which took place last week. Because of this, I was summoned to a meeting of the commission, threatened, but everything turned out to be in vain. People from other districts where we have no candidates often come to my picket, as well as other activists' pickets. They want to sign, give their contacts.

It should be noted that the situation has changed a lot compared to the end of the 1990s, the beginning of the 2000s. At that time, many people supported this power, but now people are disappointed in it. Although not everyone is ready to admit that they were wrong before. If people once allowed a dictator to come to power, now the majority is against, though they just criticize and play the role of outside observers. They expect that someone will solve this problem, hope for someone.

People who sign are mostly under the age of 40, under 35, even. There are also elderly people, but mostly young people and middle-aged people. This is a new generation that grew up in independent Belarus, which does not cling to the old Soviet dogmas, to some outdated ideological moments that we have been driven since childhood. It is necessary to put hopes on this generation. Thanks to their support, our determination and mood to act, fight and move forward is also strengthening.

Valer Bychkouski holds his pickets near the metro stations Pushkinskaya and Sportivnaya. Today he will collect signatures near the cinema Avrora from 14.00 to 17.00.
