Vasil Hushcha: I Agreed To Stand In Breach

Vasil Hushcha, who takes part in the "parliamentary campaign" in the 107th Eastern constituency of Minsk, told the press service of the European Belarus civil campaign why he decided to participate in the upcoming "elections":

- The situation is critical. If you look at it with a political point of view, you can see that no one from the vertical of power lets us elect the opposition. No one at all. They do not want to. They themselves say that we, the people in the opposition, are "very bad" for the authorities. At the same time, we see that people come to pickets, support us, treat us well, say that we are the only force that can change something in this country. You know, a lot of people say, "We are in favor of changing the situation that we have now, it's a swamp that we have plunged into over 25 years".

I decided to go to the "elections" because the Bible has the phrase "Who will agree to stand in the breach of the wall?" I agreed to stand there.
