Belarusian Workers Abroad Start Transferring Less Money Home

The amount has been reduced by $5 million.

Belarusian guest workers transferred $17 million from Russia in the second quarter of this year. Compared to last year, the amount of transfers decreased. This is evidenced by the data of the Central Bank of Russia, tut.by reports.

Compared to previous years (comparing data for the second quarter), migrant workers began to transfer less money to Belarus. For example, in the second quarter of 2018, the total amount of transfers amounted to $22 million, in the second quarter of 2017 - $32 million, in the second quarter of 2016 - $31 million, in the second quarter of 2015 - $22 million.

At the same time, compared to the first quarter of this year, the total amount of transfers increased by $1 million in April-June (then it was $16 million). On the contrary, the amount of one transfer decreased, from $293 in the first quarter to $276 in the second.

According to the Belarusian National Bank, Belarusians received $75.9 million of transfers from abroad in the second quarter. Recently, many Belarusian specialists, such as doctors or builders, have been in demand abroad.

Belarusians are still most actively going to Russia to earn money. In the first half of the year, according to the Department of Migration and Citizenship of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Russian labor market received 2237 people (2676 a year earlier). At the same time, the statistics recorded an interesting fact: in the first half of the year more Russians came to us to earn money than Belarusians went to the Russian labor market.
