New Defense Minister Starts Sudden Army Readiness Check

What for?

On January 30, by order of the Defense Minister and under the guidance of the Chief of General Staff a comprehensive inspection of the combat readiness of the Armed Forces was launched, the press service of the agency reports.

The main purpose of the inspection is to determine the ability of military management bodies and commanders to control subordinate military units and subdivisions, and for the military units and subdivisions of the Armed Forces - the readiness to perform tasks in a rapidly changing environment.

The activities of the troops will take place at the firing ranges and in certain localities.

"Taking into account the specifics of the tasks, the troops will have to act in various conditions - to overcome water obstacles, to train combat missions day and night both in the woods and settlements," - the Defense Ministry said.

Special attention will be paid to the state of equipment and weapons, the work of supporting systems.

Previously, checks on the combat readiness of the Belarusian troops were held in September 2019.

We remind that on January 20, Lukashenka appointed Viktar Khrenin Minister of Defense, who had previously served as commander of the troops of the Western Operational Command. "If we have people and equipment ready, we won't be afraid of any threat," - Khrenin noted in one of his first interviews in his new position.
