The Situation at Grodno Azot Reaches Rock Bottom

At present, two shops have been stopped.

Technical problems at Ammonia-4 shop forced Carbamide-4 shop to shut down.

- These two shops work in tandem. If Ammonia stops, Carbamide follows it as it processes the raw materials received from Ammonia. We do not know what machine broke down there. Nevertheless, if one fixes it, the Ammonia shop can start operation only tomorrow.

The enterprise notes the cyclohexanone shop will suspend production if two previous shops do not resume operation.

Grodno Azot was one of the first enterprises to respond to the national strike. Several shifts at the Ammonia-3 and Carbamide-4 shops refused to perform their official duties.

Law enforcers tried to force the workers to work, and the leadership persuaded them to do it. However, they began to join the strike. After that, some workers were fired.

Now the platform Honest People help enterprises to receive applications from those willing to join the strike. If there are more than 500 people at an enterprise on November 10, it will announce a mass strike.

- In general, the situation at the plant is quite tense. It requires all highly qualified specialists. However, the situation in the country forces them to leave their jobs. It is normal to have a problem with the equipment. Each machine operator inspects his shop during the shift to detect all the malfunctions in time. His colleague continuously monitors instrument readings in the CCR (central control room).

Why was the problem detected at Ammonia-4 too late? Why could not it be fixed in time? It is most likely due to the lack of shift personnel, people so easily dismissed by the plant administration.

- Shifts have halved. It will take at best a year to prepare new workers. The mandatory internship lasts six months, plus six months of permanent internship. The plant's management received two orders from above: to fire all the strikers and not to let the workshops stand idle. There is a chance to witness how successful this line is. It is a failure. It will only get worse in the future," said the strike committee of Grodno Azot.

One of the dismissed specialists published a video message in the network.

- When law enforcers forced with batons a part of my colleagues to the workshops on October 26 and shouted: "You will work for us anyway!", and took away a part of them in the paddy wagons, I decided not to help the regime anymore. On the 26th they crossed the line, and there will be no more such team," said Dmitry Baraban. He used to work for the plant for more than 13 years.
