Confession Of Ex-State Media Worker: Some Man Was Walking By And Spit In My Face

Belarusians just can't get on board with the state propaganda.

Radio Svaboda has published the story of a former state propaganda worker who could not stand the pressure and left the state media.

According to the former employee, the last year of such work was very difficult. The constant pressure took a heavy toll on his health: his anxiety-depressive disorder didn't go away even after he quit his job.

"I completely stopped taking care of myself. I used to try to wear a suit to work, look good, and then I just didn't want to even move around before and after work. I gained weight, now I don't even want to look at myself in the mirror. In the evenings I would sit with the phone as long as possible and do something to keep myself awake. The guy recalls a work situation after which he had to go to a private session with a therapist.

"I was working in the city center, and accordingly I was tagged [with corporate signs. - note], a man was walking by and spat into me. I was offended and outraged. But on the other hand, I agree with him," the employee smiles sadly.

Over the past year and a half, the guy has completely stopped his relationships with his friends because he had little energy.

"I used to live in moments when I could come home and lie down. Yet there was no criticism from others. A couple of times they asked:

- Why didn't you leave in August? You could pay money to the university!
