A Debate on the Situation in Belarus May Take Place at the PACE Summer Session

The summer session starts today.

On June 21, the summer session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) begins in Strasbourg (France). This was reported on the website of the assembly, reports Gordon.

The session will take place from June 21 to 24 in a hybrid format: some of the participants arrived in Strasbourg, and another part will join by video link.

The main topic of the session will be the 10th anniversary of the adoption of the Council of Europe Convention on preventing violence against women and domestic violence, as well as combating these phenomena (Istanbul Convention); a separate meeting will be devoted to this event.

“In addition, the assembly will discuss the protection of fundamental rights and the legal implications of COVID passes or certificates, the socio-economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, and the impact of the pandemic on children's rights,” the report said.

On Wednesday, June 23, a debate will take place on the situation with the Crimean Tatars in the Russian-occupied Crimea. Following the debates, it is planned to adopt a resolution.

Subject to inclusion in the agenda, the delegates will hold a debate on the topic: "The situation in Belarus: a threat to the whole of Europe."

The Ukrainian delegation will take part in the session in person, a member of the delegation, the people's Deputy from the "Servant of the People" Yevheniya Kravchuk, reported on Facebook.
