US, EU, Canada, and Britain Called on the Lukashenka Regime to Release Political Prisoners

The countries issued a joint statement.

The United States, the EU, Canada, and the United Kingdom have called on the Lukashenka regime to release political prisoners and to cooperate closely on the investigation of the Ryanair incident, the parties said in a joint statement.

"We are unanimous in calling on the Lukashenka regime to fully cooperate with international investigations into the events of May 23, immediately release all political prisoners, implement all the recommendations of the independent expert mission of the OSCE Moscow Mechanism, and start a comprehensive and genuine political dialogue between the authorities and representatives of the democratic opposition and civil society under the auspices of the OSCE," the statement reads.

Earlier, the US, EU, Canada, and the UK announced new sanctions against the regime.
