Ukraine Took Aim At The Last Russian Black Sea Fleet Submarine Base

Ukrainian drones leave no chance for the occupiers.

A surface drone of the Armed Forces of Ukraine recently attacked the port in Novorossiysk, the pro-Russian Telegram channels Mash and Rybar reported. Near this port is a naval base with a part of the Black Sea Fleet. This means that Ukrainian drones can now reach it, writes Naval News.

A Ukrainian ‘naval drone’ has struck the Sheskharis oil terminal. The information on the time of the attack varies. Mash wrote that the terminal exploded on the night of November 18. Rybar indicated that the attack happened on the night of November 16-17.

The port was attacked with the same type of drone used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the attack on the Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol at the end of October, wrote Mash. The fact that this attack took place indicates that Ukrainian drones can reach the military base in Novorossiysk, according to Naval News.

According to the news publisher, a large naval base in Novorossiysk is close to the oil terminal. Until now, this base was considered safe and was located 675 km from Odesa, which is much further from Ukraine than Sevastopol. A part of the Black Sea Fleet was redeployed precisely to Novorossiysk after the attack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Sevastopol on October 29, the U.S. Naval Institute wrote earlier, showing satellite images. Then the Russian military leadership considered the threat of naval drones so serious that the entire fleet that dominated the Black Sea at the beginning of the war was not allowed to leave the ports, Naval News notes. However, drones now threaten them inside the Novorossiysk seaport as well.

Many warships that were directly involved in the war with Ukraine are deployed at the base, writes Naval News. According to them, among them are Kilo-class submarines, which were transferred to Novorossiysk from Sevastopol in September. There are also several large landing ships that were sent to the Black Sea in preparation for the invasion.

A satellite image taken in the early morning shows that many warships were in the seaport, Naval News writes.

Naval drones are produced in Ukraine using a set of technologies. The drones have features of canoes and jet skis. Such drones can carry small warheads. On October 29, they managed to penetrate deep into the Sevastopol harbour.
