Belarusian Prisoners Forced To Sew Military Uniforms For Russians

The colonies are now working overtime.

According to a former prisoner of penal colony № 3 in the urban settlement of Vitsba, Vitsebsk district, they used to sew rags for mops, which are then sold in Euraopt, and suits for the factories. But now that has changed, he shared with human rights activists.

"Recently, military uniforms for Russians have been sewn there in large quantities. Prisoners are now working overtime.

The bedtime is at 22, but now they can stay there until one o'clock in the morning and then sleep longer. They are allowed to do this, only to have these uniforms sewn. The last time it happened during the pandemic - prisoners were sewing COVID-19 protective masks," said the former prisoner.

It is noted that penal colony № 3 in the urban settlement of Vitsba, Vitsebsk district, is considered the most "elitist" in Belarus. High-ranking officials, prosecutors, judges and police officers serve their sentences there. But after the events of 2020, this colony, like the others, was filled with political prisoners.
