Lukashenka's regime is getting more involved in the war.

The Lithuanian Foreign Ministry considers the deployment of nuclear weapons in Belarus a desperate move by Putin and Lukashenka to create tension and destabilize Europe. Lithuania will decide together with Euro-Atlantic partners how to respond to this step. The Lithuanian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"We are closely following the situation with regard to the statement of Russian President on Russia's plans to deploy tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus. We consider it another attempt of two unpredictable dictatorial regimes to threaten their neighbours and the entire European continent. These are desperate moves by Putin and Lukashenka aimed at creating another wave of tension and destabilization in Europe," the statement reads.

Poland also responded to Putin's statement about the placement of nuclear weapons in Belarus.

Polish Foreign Ministry spokesman Lukasz Jasina said in a commentary to RMF 24 that risks were being created in terms of nuclear weapons nonproliferation.

"We believe that Vladimir Putin's decision to deploy tactical nuclear weapons and their means of delivery in Belarus further increases tensions over Russian aggression against Ukraine. This is another step toward dragging Belarus into the cogs of the Russian military machine," the Polish official said.

"Russia's actions confirm the legitimacy and importance of the NATO deterrence policy in which Poland participates," Jasina stressed.
