British Intelligence: Fighting In Belgorod Region Puts Moscow In Double Mind

A "second front" has been imposed on the Russian command.

Increased raids by Russian volunteers on Russian territory have put Moscow in a double mind: defend its territory or leave troops in the captured areas of Ukraine.

This was reported by the UK Ministry of Defence on Twitter.

Since the morning of 1 June, partisan units attacked the Belgorod region of Russia for the second time in ten days, the report said. Unmanned drones also struck Belgorod (35km inland of Russia) in a difficult battlefield environment, while authorities evacuated civilians from the border town of Shebekino after shelling.

British intelligence says the Russian military has thrown more forces at curbing this raid than the previous one. However, the Russian Defence Ministry, according to its own press release, has resorted to the deployment of its full range of firepower, including attack helicopters and the TOS-1A heavy thermobaric missile launcher.

"Russian commanders now face an acute dilemma: strengthen their defences in Russia's border areas or reinforce their positions in occupied Ukraine," the British Defence Ministry said.
