Pope Francis Hospitalised Again

The pontiff will have to undergo surgery.

Pope Francis will undergo an operation during the day under general anaesthesia. The Italian news agency ANSA reported this on Wednesday.

"After a general audience, Pope Francis headed to the Agostino Gemelli University Hospital, where he will undergo surgery for a laparotomy and abdominal wall prosthesis under general anaesthetic during the first half of the day," the Holy See press office said in a statement.

It is specified that the pontiff's surgery "became necessary because of a pinched postoperative hernia causing recurrent, painful and worsening subclavian syndromes".

We remind you that the pontiff was last hospitalised about three months ago due to a respiratory infection. At the same time, the Vatican initially said that he had arrived at the hospital for an examination.
