Swedish and Czech Ambassadors supported participants of hunger strike of solidarity

Yesterday Swedish Ambassador Stefan Eriksson and Czech Chargé d’Affaires Jiří Karas visited participants of the hunger strike of solidarity with political prisoners.

At 4 p.m. they visited the headquarters of the Belarusian Popular Front party where the hunger strikers stayed, in order to express their support to them, Radio Racyja informs.

“It is absolutely clear that it is not easy to be on hunger strike in prison, and especially for a person who had been on a hunger strike once, and whose health had been undermined. That is why we believe that the only and the last way to support Mikalay Autukhovich is to declare hunger strike too and to demand his release or beginning of the court trial,” noted one of the participants of the solidarity rally, a deputy chairman of the “Young Front” Nasta Palazhanka.

Representatives of European countries are indignant at the situation with the arrested leaders of businessmen’s movement, the Chartyer’97 press-centre has been told by the spokesperson of the Young Front Tasyana Shaputska.

“Stefan Eriksson was stunned that no investigation in the case of the businessmen who are political prisoners is carried out. He said that he wasn’t informed well enough about this situation, but he is to follow it closer from now on. Jiří Karas noted that negotiations on the situation with Mikalai Autukhovich are held, and he hopes that in the near future this situation would be settled,” Tatsyna Shaputska commented.
