Today the court of review of Minsk city court in the case of businessman Andrei Bandarenka has taken place.

Lawyer Dzmitry Laeuski demanded to declare his client not guilty. According to the lawyer, the court did not have proofs of Andrei Bandarenka's guilt, and could not receive them. Moreover, in the new consideration of the case illegality of the charges has become even more evident. Legally speaking, the new verdict is characterized by a number of new transgressions in addition to the previous ones," ucpb.org website reports.

However Minsk city court has dismissed the cassational appeal and upheld the verdict.

Lawyer Dzmitry Laeuski trongly disagrees the decision of the court. He believes that the court has not taken in account any of his arguments, and is set to appeal against this ruling of Minsk city court in the next few days.

Andrei Bandarenka has been sentened to 6 years of imprisonment in a medium security penal colony with forfeiture of property. He was found guilty of stealing Br180 million from his own firm by fraud. Earlier the businessman pleaded not guilty. He explains persecution by revenge for his participation in the parliamentary elections in 2008 as a member of the United Civil Party.
