Visit to Moscow fails: Customs Code not ratified

The Belarusian “parliament” postponed ratification of the Customs Code of the Customs Union.

“Two issues have been put on the agenda of the session. There’s not ratification of the Customs Code among them,” RIA Novosti learnt from the secretariat of the “house of representatives” of the “national assembly” of Belarus. However, the source didn’t say the date of hearing on the draft.

The draft law on Ratification of the Agreement on Customs Code of the Customs Union was expected to have been put on the agenda of the evening session of the “house of representatives” on June 14. The Commission on CIS International Ties and Affairs recommended the “house of representatives” last Tuesday to adopt the draft law on ratification. It was initially planned to consider this issue at a plenary session of the “house of representatives” last Thursday, June 10.

The Customs Code determines general provisions of customs regulations, contains norms of customs administration unification, including the order of declaring goods, single customs procedures, rules for determining the country of origin of goods and their customs value, and customs duties.
